“I would rather drink no wine for my entire life than drink no tea every day.” ~Lu Yu of the Tang Dynasty
As the temperature drops and days become even shorter, many of us are enjoying the comfort and warming experience of a nice herbal tea. Teas can cut the chill in our bodies, warm our hands, and cheer us up on these gray winter afternoons.
Chinese health teas differ from their medicinal herb tea counterparts in that their formulations are not specific to each person. Health teas can be enjoyed by anyone without interfering with most herbal prescriptions. They can help refresh the mind, alleviate menstrual pain and irregularity, regulate emotions, treat inflammation, and so much more.
Visit each week for a different tea you can try at home.
Renshen Cha
For Promoting Intelligence
Ingredients:
5g fresh or dried Ginseng (Renshen)
1 cup water
Instructions:
Simply steep the ginseng as you would any other tea. Cover and let sit for at least 30 minutes before drinking.
After you’ve finished your cup, don’t toss the ginseng! The great thing about health teas is that you can simply add more hot water and steep again. Do this several times throughout the day to get the most benefits out of each tea.
